History of the Grama Panchayat

The present-day Koothali Panchayat area was once part of the ancestral property of Koothali Mooppil Nair, Vallabhan Chathan, who held the title of Sthanapathi, and Godheraman, the Avinjattu Naduvazhi, in the erstwhile Kurumbranad Taluk. This vast region, extending up to Wayanad, was historically known as the Koothali Estate.
